All families are invited to attend the

Sunshine School Graduation!

Friday, June 8th at 6:30 pm

All preschool students will be participating in the program on stage, and all Lamb's Fold students will be invited up to receive an end of the year certificate. Please have all preschool students in their classrooms by 6:15. Also, please be sure that your children have an opportunity to eat dinner before the program, either by bringing a sack dinner or taking them home to eat first. There will be a dessert provided after the program.

School Closure Days

Sunshine School will be CLOSED on Monday and Tuesday, June 11th and 12th for Teacher Planning. The Summer Program begins on Wednesday, June 13th.

Plant Sale Follow-up

Thank you for all of your support for our Plant Sale! We raised about $2000 for our school! We will begin improvements to our Infant Room soon, and we are also developing a plan to improve our playground!

Looking for After School care

for your elementary student this fall?

Sunshine School just received a grant of $5000 from the Juan Young Trust for our After School Program! We will be expanding this program and providing high quality after school care along with art, science, music enrichment classes, and homework club.  Students at Atkinson Elementary can be transported by Sunshine School staff to our facility at 3 pm daily, and students at Bridger can ride the school bus to our facility daily.We are busy working on all of the details for this expanded program, so program details and registration forms will be available in June.

Infants

We have a new student who began in the Infant Room at the end of May. Welcome, Tia! We are also saying good bye to Henry and Sam as they move up to the Wobbler Room this month.

Also, Ella has started sitting up!

Just a reminder, please remember to bring sunscreen to keep here at Sunshine School, and be sure that it is clearly labeled with your child's name. We will not need signed medical consent forms because parents have already provided sunscreen consent on the new registration forms.

Wobblers

In June, both Aisha and Eli will be moving up to Preschool, and we will be welcoming Henry and Sam into the Wobbler Room. We will also be welcoming a new student into the Wobbler Room. Welcome, Enzo!

We're looking forward to a great summer with lots of time outside enjoying bubbles and sidewalk chalk!

Graduation

Our preschool students have been preparing for the Graduation Program, and we want you to know that all Sunshine School families are invited to attend! Lamb's Fold students will be invited up to the stage with their parents to collect their end of the year certificates, and we would love to see you there! It is on Friday, June 8th at 6:30 pm.

Preschool students have been working hard to learn their songs for Graduation! We will be practicing on the stage during the week before the program, and we would love to see you all at the program on Friday, June 8th at 6:30 pm. The Very Hungry Caterpillar

On Tuesday this week, Preschool students enjoyed Very Hungry Caterpillar Day. We have been watching our caterpillars transform into butterflies over the past few weeks, and we finally released them outside. We also enjoyed a visit from a children's librarian and ate a picnic lunch outside.

Students had a chance to meet our butterflies up close before they flew away.

Miss Hilary made a special Hungry Caterpillar out of cupcakes for each class for afternoon snack.

Camp Sprout

Summer is just around the corner and we are getting ready for a great summer at Sunshine School and Camp Sprout!  Camp Sprout is our day camp program for students entering 1st-5th grade, which will run July 16th-August 10th.  Register this week and receive $20 off each week of Camp Sprout.  This early registration discount ends Sunday, May 20th.  Visit www.campsprout.com for more details or to download a registration form.  


We have added Upward Flag Football and Cheerleading Camp to the last week of Camp Sprout, August 6-10th.  Campers will participate in skill stations and scrimmages in the morning, and all the fun Camp Sprout recreation, water games and swimming in the afternoon.   Please pass along to any friends or family you think might be interested. 

We wanted to introduce you to our newest addition to Camp Sprout. We can't wait for some hot summer days!

Annual Plant Sale!
May 5 & 6, 9 am - 4 pm

Come check out our great selection of vegetables, herbs, annuals, planters, and hanging baskets! Proceeds from this fundraiser will go toward new playground equipment, updating the Infant Room, and expanding the After School Program. Invite your friends and family! We can accept Debit, Credit, Cash, or Checks.

May Newsletter: Lamb's Fold

Infants

We have welcomed several new students in the Infant Room in the last month. Henri, Alec, and Kai all joined the Lamb's Fold in April and May. We also welcomed a new full-time staff member, Miss Kaitlin (see below).

This month, JJ started walking, Everett began sitting up on her own, and Sam began visiting the Wobblers!

Just a reminder, please be sure to label everything you bring with your child's name, especially any food or drinks that you put in the fridge in the morning.

Wobblers

Porter is turning 2 on May 3rd. Happy Birthday, Porter!

We welcomed a new student in the Wobbler Room this month. Welcome, Parker!

The Wobblers had fun participating in the Umbrella Walk in April. We opened our umbrellas, put on our rain boots, and enjoyed a nice spring walk through the neighborhood!

Welcome, Miss Kaitlin!

Miss Kaitlin began in the Infant Room this last month, and she has been a great addition to our staff! She spent one year working at Happy Valley Preschool, has several years of babysitting experience, and has spent time volunteering in her church nursery. She also has her Associates Degree from Clackamas Community College and a one year Bible Certificate from Mntana Bible College. Her home is in Happy Valley, OR, and she enjoys playing with her black labs (Remi and Briley), hunting, hiking, snowboarding, camping, and road trips. Her favorite things about working with kids are "watching the kiddos learn how to do new things, playing on the floor with them, and rocking them to sleep."

Recycling Fundraiser Follow-up

Thank you for all of your donations of returnable cans and bottles! We put them to good use and bought 20 chicks to provide eggs for a family! These eggs will provide a good source of food and ongoing income for that family!
